Amazing getting into the sistine chapel before the crowds

We toured the Vatican early morning with Irene and can I say that this experience was SO well worth it. Our family of 7 had the entire Sistine Chapel and galleries leading up to it basically to ourselves! Made it so special and such that we could truly take every fresco and painting in without the overwhelming pressure of 'moving on to the next one' with hundreds of people surrounding us. The Sistine Chapel is a once in a lifetime experience, with so much history and so this tour is truly not one to be missed!! 100/100 would recommend the investment.

Amazing and informative early morning tour

Sylvia was our guide through the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s. We took the 7:20am tour and was the 2nd group in line at the entry gate. She was very pleasant, easy to understand, knowledge and very patient. Our group of 7 was small compared to the huge groups of 20+ that were around. The size gave us an opportunities to ask questions throughout and definitely felt more intimate. Highly recommend this tour.

10/10 great tour with amazing guide!

Fantastic tour! Patricia was an amazing guide. Huge depth of knowledge about all things Vatican, art and Rome. Also an incredibly kind and thoughtful guide. She ensured everyone was comfortable and even asked the Swiss Guard to allow my mother (in her 70s) to take a short cut through the Vatican museum as she was wearing out. We appreciated everything Patricia did for us and all the information she shared! 10/10!

Vatican Tours

The Vatican City is a must see on a trip to Rome, a place which holds the greatest secrets of Christianity. It is the smallest state in the world, yet it welcomes nearly six million tourists every year. It is an elaborate complex of extraordinary artwork, magnificent papal palaces, and lush landscaped gardens overlooked by Michelangelo’s mighty dome of Saint Peter’s Basilica. With a little drive and patience, you can visit it entirely in just one day. There really isn’t a “best time” to visit the Vatican. It is the most popular tourist destination in Rome and, consequently, is almost always very busy (even early in the morning). Luckily, you have the option to avoid long hours of queuing with Walks Inside Rome’s Vatican Tours and skip-the-line tickets.

The Vatican, a unique experience for adults and children

The main attractions that most travelers, young and old, want to see while visiting Rome are the Vatican with St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums. In particular, everyone wants to admire the magnificence of Michelangelo’s Pietà which is located inside the Basilica and the Sistine Chapel (whose ceiling Michelangelo painted) which is located inside the Vatican Museums.

Begin your Vatican tour from the Holy See’s heart, St. Peter’s Square. Capable of accommodating up to 150,000 pilgrims during major Christian ceremonies, it is a unique blend of architecture, art and religon. Take the time to stroll quietly and discover the surroundings, especially the 284 columns and statues that adorn this magnificent square.

The Vatican Museums are the artistic center of the Vatican City. Considered among the most beautiful museums in the world, they consist of 14 small museums which house one of the largest collections of art, archeology and ethno-anthropology created by the Popes over the centuries. All eras are represented and there are works and masterpieces from many regions (Egypt, China, Italy, Africa, etc.). They also include some of the most exclusive and artistically significant places of the Apostolic Palaces.

The Sistine Chapel is definitely a must see in the Vatican. Here you can admire Michelangelo’s famous ceiling scenes that present Genesis (such as The Creation of Adam) and on the back wall the Last Judgment, on the other hand, on the side walls you can admire the frescoes by Botticelli, Perugino, Rosselli and Raphael. Our Vatican tour by night can you allow to be alone in Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel. This unique tour has been described as “the best experience in Rome.”

St. Peter’s Basilica is not only the beating heart of the Vatican, it is also the largest Catholic Church in the world. The inside of the church itself is already breathtaking. It can accommodate up to 60,000 pilgrims at the same time and is still used by the pope who celebrates mass there. You can walk freely around the basilica and admire the columns and sculptures. Take the time to discover the details of the sculptures, the Bernini canopy located on the main altar of the basilica, but also the numerous statues of Christ and the apostles.

Michelangelo’s dome is located in the building and will offer you one of the most emblematic views of St. Peter’s Square. It is highly recommended to climb to the top of the dome to discover the magnificent panorama of Rome and even if the path is quite tiring if you want to do it on foot, it is really worth it.

The Vatican Gardens are also worth a detour. They are simply gorgeous and you can see them climbing the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica, they are located just behind the Basilica. However, you can only visit them by taking a guided tour of the Vatican, impossible to get there by other means.
